It is estimated that there are 70 million feral cats in the United States alone and most of them have very little interaction with us humans.

Sadly, a lot of them lead very short lives even though there are many dedicated people who do what they can to help them through hard times.

Feral cats are rarely friendly towards people, so if one day one approaches you, you should feel honoured because that makes you a special person.

Jamie and her boyfriend are a couple who helped a local feral cat by leaving out food for her, one day she came to them with something much more urgent.

She had brought them her kitten and Jamie could immediately see that there was something wrong with him. On closer inspection it looked as if his hip may be broken.

"We found him and immediatley knew that something was wrong," explains Jamie.

"He would hike his leg up and his hip would jet out real far. We thought maybe his little hip was broken."

This mama cat felt that she could trust Jamie and left the injured kitten with her.

After taking him in and calling him Milo, he was taken to the vets where they discovered he had a broken fibula and tibia.

This was easily remedied with a cast which he will need to wear for about 3 weeks.

Since then Milo has hardly left his adopted parents side.

Milo is so happy to be inside with the people that love and care for him.

His mother still visits regularly to be fed, but she's an independent kitty that still prefers to live outside.

Jamie hopes one day that she may have the courage to join little Milo inside.

Mother cats have great instincts, when she chose Jamie to look after her precious baby she knew that she had brought him to the right place.

Somewhere that was full of love where he would get all the care he needed.
