Introducing Champas!

He's a five-year-old flame point siamese kitty that has spent over a year at an Animal Welfare League Australia shelter in Sydney, 433 days to be exact!

When Champas first arrived at the shelter he was scared and wasn’t willing to interact with people.

Because of this, he was left to watch on as dozens and dozens of cats and dogs were adopted.

It became obvious that it wasn't going to be easy to find Champas a new home so he ended up in the shelter’s reception area.

This was actually a good thing as it allowed him to get used to people.

Then the people at the shelter came up with a great idea to find Champas a forever home.

“He’s not the kind of cat that any family could take, but we know for sure there is someone out there who he would make so happy – we just need to find them,” said a shelter spokesperson.

“Champas has already spent one Valentine’s Day in the shelter and we would hate for him to have to be here for another one,” she added.

Everybody was hoping that this series of signs would make this lovely white kitty more appealing to potential adopters.

UPDATE: After 433 days at the shelter, Champas finally got adopted!

His new parent, Nathan, said:

“To everyone who is wondering what happened to Champas the long term resident at the shelter – he came home with me today, and after biting my hand, went straight to sleep.”
