I’ve never really understood why anyone would abandon helpless animals, they always say they have their reasons (which I always doubt) but surely anyone can see that this way is not the answer.

At least there’s hope for unwanted animals in Damascus thanks to this group of dedicated people.

Scroll down to hear the heart-warming story of three abandoned kittens.

When Tamara Safaya was walking through the war-torn streets of Damascus, Syria, she came across a cardboard box that had three abandoned kittens in it.

For most of the people living there, rescuing unwanted animals would not be on their minds, which is understandable giving the difficulties they are going through on a daily basis.

Luckily for these three tiny kittens, Tamara belongs to a makeshift group of animal lovers who have formed an association to help and rehouse abandoned and unwanted animals in this time of unrest.

Once Tamara had taken these kittens off the streets, with the help of her friends she managed to find a foster mother that could offer them what they needed. Lulu is a lactating mama cat who readily accepted the abandoned kittens into her family.

Tamara describes their situation: “We are a team of members from Damascus City who are active in the field of rescuing, feeding and treating every animal in need. We don’t have any center or shelter because we don’t have enough funding sources.”

“We are facing difficulties in getting a governmental license for our organisation because the government is always busy with other issues. Our future ambition is to build a shelter for animals in Damascus.”

The three now named kittens, Lucky, a boy, and his two sisters Peace and Sedra, will now survive thanks to the dedication of these loving people.
