The sand cat is a shy and secretive animal only seen in the desert at night. It’s a nocturnal hunter perfectly adapted to its desert home. This delightful looking wild cat has no need to drink water as it get’s all it needs from it’s prey, which is mainly small birds, reptiles and mammals. They also have special hairs in their ears and paws to keep the sand out.

Researchers have spent the last four years in Morocco extensively tracking and documenting Africa’s elusive sand cats, and can you believe that in the middle of the night on the last night of their expedition they made an ‘astonishing’ discovery. “Our team is today revealing this nice footage of three wild sand cat kittens observed during our scientific field trip of April 2017. To our knowledge, this is the first-ever video of young wild sand cat kittens.” This is an incredible find and when you watch the footage you will see why.
