The Purrfect Retirement Home for Cats
In Lincolnshire, England, there is now a place where your cat can continue to be loved, even after you die.
Jain Hills, who is the founder of Lincolnshire Trust for Cats, had this great idea when she realised that there was no place for older/senior cats to go after their humans had died as most rehoming charities won’t take them in.
Set in seven acres of rolling countryside, the house resembles a typical retirement facility. It has three south facing centrally heated rooms where cats can bathe in the sun all day, there are a number of enclosed outdoor runs and even private rooms for the less sociable felines. At present, it is home to almost 80 cats who receive round the clock care from the live-in caretaker.
For a cat to live at this home there is a one off fee 0f £850/$1,300 which covers luxuries including heated beds, an open fire and little sofas, quality cat food including any special dietary requirements and any medical bills that may arise. Any additional costs are covered by the trust.
