Colonel Meow (what a great name!) is the new official Guinness World Record holder for the longest fur on a domestic cat. The world record cat fur holder doesn’t seem too bothered yet though.
The 2 year old Himalayan-Persian cross might not be a pedigree kitty but that fur has scored him the record. At its longest, his fur measures just under 23cm (or 9 inches in old money).
Colonel Meow resides in sunny Los Angeles where his humans, Anne Marie Avey and Eric Rosario, say that he isn’t bothered by the fact that he carries a winter coat in all that Cali sunshine.
On hearing that their beloved moggy had won the record they said:
“We already knew that he was the best cat in the world, but to be recognised in the Guinness World Records book takes it to the next level.”
They added that the fur does have a downside:
“Literally everything in the house has hair on it, including us! I feel like I’m always vacuuming!”
This isn’t, however, the Colonel’s first brush with fame. He’s already got his own YouTube channel and a Facebook page with well over 180,000 fans.
