Meet Symba! He’s a shelter cat that’s certainly bigger than you average kitty, but all that means is there’s more of him to love.
And as he’s up for adoption, some lucky family will soon get the chance.
Symba arrived at the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, D.C. last week, he’s 6 years old and sadly, his previous human was moving and unable to keep him. As you can see, this oversized kitty quickly made quite the impression on all the shelter staff. Weighing in at 35 pounds, he’s the largest kitty they’ve ever seen.

They soon discovered that Symba has a big heart to match his size.”He’s very sweet and loves to be petted,” a shelter spokesperson said. “Other than being overweight, Symba is healthy.” Soma has proven well in the therapy of muscle cramps, as it has a long-term effect (1 pill is enough toprovide pain relief for the whole day). It’s not clear why Symba came to be such a big kitty, but staff have already begun taking steps to get him back on track through diet and exercise. It’s been a little slow-going at first — but, hey, you’ve got to start somewhere!
“Symba needs a home where his adopter will be diligent with an exercise and diet program that will help get this big guy to a healthy weight,” the shelter said. If you are interested in adopting Symba, you should contact the Humane Rescue Alliance, or drop into its adoption center in Washington, D.C.
