Meet Fedya the cat, whose googly eyes make him look like he's always astonished!
This sweet cross-eyed boy lives with his human mama Natalia and his big brother and guardian, Handsome the cat.
Fedya had a tough start in life. His mother was a stray that had given birth in Natalia's backyard.
Sadly, he was born underdeveloped, weak, and sickly.
It's heartbreaking to imagine that he may have been dropped by his mother while being carried over fences, which Natalia believes may have contributed to his current condition.
As if that wasn't enough, his cat mom (above) crossed over the rainbow bridge shortly after giving birth, and the poor baby was left alone, crying for help.
His early life was full of challenges and uncertainty, that is, until Natalia came to his rescue.
He was probably born with a coordination disorder as he struggled to move around.
She knew this little orphan wouldn't make it on his own so she brought him into her home, fed him, and treated his eye allergy.
Bit by bit, the furry baby started to heal and Natalia was pleased with his progress.
But she wasn't alone in taking care of Fedya. Her neighbor's cat, Handsome, immediately took little Fedya under his wing.
In fact, he was doing such a good job that Natalia's neighbor allowed him to move in so that he could continue to care for the little kitten.
“Handsome was our neighbors’ cat, he came to visit us," explained Natalia.
"When he noticed Fedya, he began to look after him, and we realized that our kitten really needed him. We have good neighbors, they allowed Handsome to live with us. This is how this little touching cat family was created!”
Because he had lost his mother so early on in life, Fedya knew little about what it meant to be a cat, so Handsome gave him a helping paw.
He took on the role of father, he bathed him, groomed him and became his protector - it didn't take long for the two of them to become inseparable.
Fedya also has a platonic crush on his feline neighbor Matilda.
"He greets her by purring and chirping, follows her and just admires her," Natalia shared with We Love Cats and Kittens.
Fedya has blossomed into a loving, intelligent kitty that enjoys his life to the full.
He still suffers from allergies, his eyes are watery and his nose is often congested. But his forever family are doing everything they can to keep him healthy.
As for Fedya’s peculiar, but very cute look, Natalia is puzzled as to why.
"We do not know why Fedya looks like this and is a little behind in development," she explains.
"We assume that these are complications of his condition after birth, he was very weak and was dying. Either that, or it’s a genetic disorder."
Because of his coordination problems, he's never been particularly good at jumping, but he doesn't give up. He's on a long-term mission to find a way to open the door.
Or even climb over it!
Fedya's not very adept at playing with tennis balls or mice toys either but he does take pleasure in chasing strings!
"He loves chasing strings, said Natalia.
"When Fedya wants to play like that, he comes up to people and meows, asking them to take the string and run with him."
One day, a friend of Natalia's suggested that she should post some pictures of Fedya online.
His original look was a hit with cat lovers all over the world, and he now has his own Instagram page with over 146,000 followers.
Natalia was very surprised by his popularity:
"For us, he is an ordinary, simple cat, with a unique appearance, no more. It is very nice, of course, that so many people love Fedya, this is so encouraging for us!”
Fedya is living his life to the fullest, in the company of his big brother, his platonic girlfriend, and tons of paw-made biscuits!
He went through a lot in his early days but now Fedya is a happy and healthy kitty, adored by everyone who's ever met him!
