There’s nothing like a successful rescue story to give you that warm feeling inside.

When a tiny Tuxedo kitten was rescued from the streets, she ended up in the perfect place and found the best friend she could ever hope for. Meet Ripley!

Ripley the Tuxedo was found in a cat colony in Los Angeles when a TNR (trap-neuter-return) rescuer heard her crying.

It was thought that she was the only survivor in her litter. Even though she was very weak she managed to cry out loud, she definitely had a strong will to survive.

Ashley Kelley is a foster volunteer with Wrenn Rescues and when she heard about Ripley she knew she could help the tiny Tuxedo.

“Ripley has the strongest little spirit and she was not ready to give up. I don’t think she would have made it much longer if her rescuer hadn’t found her,” she said.

This tiny kitten needed round-the-clock care, she was very dehydrated and couldn’t manage to eat on her own.

But 18 hours later she had put on 10 grams and was finally able to latch onto her bottle. She was already on the road to recovery.

Ripley’s appetite grew daily and with proper medical care, good food and comfy beds, she got a clean bill of health. But because of her bad start in life, she still had a lot of growing to do, at five weeks old she was only the size of a 3.5 week old.

Soon after, Ashley was contacted about another kitten needing foster care so she decided to take him in and give Ripley a companion.

This tiny tabby kitten was found in a tree all alone. Some children had heard his meows and managed to get him to safety, the poor thing was all skins and bones. His rescuers decided to name him Pikachu.

He was also taken to Wrenn Rescues where he received the medical attention he so greatly needed. “Four days later, he was like a new man. He was very active, silly and cuddly,” Ashley said.

“Pikachu is the sweetest little guy. He loves to have his face and belly rubbed, and he really just can’t get enough human affection. I am so happy he doesn’t have to grow up on the streets.”

The tabby boy was now medically clear, so he was ready to meet Ripley who had been anticipating this very moment.

buddies

When Ripley was first introduced to Pikachu she took to him straight away, wanting to play. He was a bit shy at first but Ripley was determined to make him her friend.

Within minutes, the two tiny kittens were getting on famously as if they had always been friends. They spent all their time together playing with toys and following each other around.

“They are bonded in the best possible way. You can pick one up and the other won’t panic, but will stay close by to keep an eye on their buddy. They sleep together for all their naps, and they groom each other.”

It was obvious to all that they were thriving as a pair and this was helping them grow stronger every day.

“It really worked out so well because they’re both really small, but they are exactly the same size and age, down to the ounces. They were meant to be buddies.”

Every morning you can hear their little squeaks and squeals until their breakfast is served.

Ripley appears to be the stronger of the two but she always shares the toys with her tabby brother.

They both seem to appreciate the little things in life, especially each other’s company.
