We often feel that there isn’t much difference between a male cat and a female cat other than gender but believe it or not there are many interesting things about male cats that are unique to their sex.

Even though we think we know all about our feline companions some of the facts in this video may surprise you.

We already know that male cats in general are much bigger than female cats and that they ‘spray’ to mark their territory.

But did you know they have a shorter life expectancy to their female counterpart?

On average male cats live one to two years less than female cats.

The reason for this is not entirely clear but what we do know is that there are already many factors that determine the lifespan of a cat, male or female.

Whether a cat is an indoor or an outdoor cat plays a big part in their life expectancy.

On average an outdoor cat lives between two and five years whereas an indoor cat lives between 10 and 15 years.

Another fact that totally took me by surprise is that male cats tend to be left pawed while females tend to be right pawed.

Of course there are always some exceptions to this rule so why don’t you take a look at your own kitty to see which paw is the dominant one.
