Who said bedtime stories were just for kids?

As it turns out, cats enjoy them too!

I mean, who knew, right?

We Love Cats and Kittens spoke to Rachael, Humane Education Manager at the Animal Humane Society in Minnesota.

They have created a one-hour program called "Rescue Readers" where participants get the chance to read to all the animals at their adoption centers.

Rachael explains:

“Positive interactions with readers can help our animals develop social skills that help them connect with people.

When animals are able to calm their minds and bodies, they stay healthy physically too. Rescue Readers know they are making a difference."

"One benefit for the reader is that animals will never judge reading skills! Rescue Readers share stories they love while improving their reading skills and gaining confidence.

"Talk about a win-win! While many of our readers are youth and parents, anyone aged 4+ can be a Rescue Reader!”

So let me tell you about Finn, a little boy who volunteered as a Rescue Reader at one of their centers.

While he was there, he met another Finn - a friendly tabby cat who was up for adoption.

This lovable kitty really enjoyed the company of humans, so as you can imagine, the two Finns hit it off right away during their hour-long reading session.

When Finn the boy was reading his favorite book about dinosaurs, Finn the cat snuggled up and purred contentedly.

It was a beautiful sight to see.

So much so, that everyone at the shelter fell in love with them.

And the best part? Rachael, the Humane Education Manager at the Animal Humane Society, says that reading to shelter animals can have a calming effect on them.

Plus, it's a win-win situation because Rescue Readers get to improve their reading skills while giving love and attention to these animals.

After the reading session, Finn the cat couldn't get enough of cuddles from Finn the boy.

And would you believe that Finn the cat, with his charming personality, was adopted just TWO days after arriving at adoption center!

How awesome is that?

I mean, it's not surprising considering how adorable he is, but still, that was quick!

We're so happy for him and his new family.

It's always amazing to see animals find their perfect match and get the love they deserve.

“Rescue Readers know they are making a difference,” says Rachael.

Indeed they do. Sometimes, the act of sharing a good story is all it takes, even if the furry listener doesn’t catch every single word!
