When Stephen Simmons needed help coping with PTSD as a war veteran, this kitty knew how to give his human a helping paw.

Say hello to Burma the Adventure Cat!

Along with his canine buddy Puppi, he helped change his cat dad’s life for the better.

Coping with PTSD can be difficult at the best of times but thanks to a friend, Stephen discovered 'adventure therapy,' and it really helped him cope.

So Stephen and Puppi set out on an adventure to the mountains of Southern Oregon. The pair of them lived out of a jeep and life was becoming rewarding again.

This new life was working for him, he felt that he was slowly returning to his natural self.

Then Burma came into Steven's life in 2013 when a girl approached him with a box of kittens.

“I first met Burma when a homeless girl approached me with a box of kittens. I knew the second she handed him to me that I was going to keep him. He was absolutely irresistible.”

His family was now complete, Burma and Puppi, who were like brother and sister to each other, took away his loneliness and gave him the positivity he needed to carry on.

The three of them have had such amazing adventures and it seems strange that Burma's first home was the old jeep that Stephen was living out of at the time.

Burma quickly adjusted to his new life and Stephen discovered that this little kitty had a taste for adventure.

"I believe he was intended to be with us. His being an adventure cat wasn’t a past time it was his life for his first 3 years."

This unusual family spent a lot of time in the wilderness, visiting countless exciting places and they spent many hours celebrating the gift of life they shared together.

“The Kalmiopsis Wilderness in Oregon, where we spent lots of time, was likely our favorite place out West,” Stephen shared with We Love Cats and Kittens.

They experienced many unforgettable moments climbing unique and rugged landscapes.

"We also love the high deserts out west, with their peaceful solitude and multitude of colors."

They also enjoy some family time at the beach and Burma loves to swim.

"We love Long Island too, because it’s a special place to us, so unique."

Stephen describes himself as a 'picture-holic' type of person and with his phone has documented their adventures.

So much so that Burma the Adventure Cat has his own Instagram page with over 67,000 followers and almost 2,000 pictures and videos.

Sadly, Puppi crossed the rainbow bridge in 2020 as a 16-year-old dearly beloved pet and furry pal.

Both Stephen and Burma still really miss him, but there's still so much of the great outdoors to be explored, and the family pushes forward, with Puppi in their memory.

Burma is now almost ten, and he’s a strong and curious kitty who loves his life and everything it brings.

And indeed, what a fabulous life he has!
