One day in Belgium, a family spotted a skinny white kitty in their backyard. They were a kind family so they put out some food for her.

Even though she was obviously feral, the appeal of daily meals convinced her to make the garden her home.

Noticing her gradually filling silhouette, the family realized that she was pregnant. They contacted their local animal rescue, seeking guidance on the situation.

"They reached out to the rescue organization I foster for and fortunately, I was able to take her in,'" explained Anne.

Anne fosters for @katzoektthuis which roughly translates to Cat Searches Home.

Anne named the cat 'Penny', and for the first time in her life, she was embraced by the warmth of a home indoors.

While Penny took to a calm and snug room, she asserted a visible boundary between her and her human caretakers.

Despite having multiple nesting options, Penny was irresistibly drawn to the cat tree.

Each time Anne entered the room, Penny would cautiously come out of her hideaway, advancing towards her food bowl with an eager appetite.

Days later, Penny went into labor, astonishing everyone by delivering her kittens under the cat tree, foregoing the luxurious birthing suites offered.

Penny successfully mothered four healthy, chubby kittens, a result of all the food she'd been given since she found refuge at the family's residence.

Penny's protective instincts were robust, keeping her nest away from human interference.

With a loving embrace, she would secure her kittens within the nest, gently pulling them back if they ventured too far.

As the kittens started to gain strength and size, their exploratory nature could not be curbed, not even by Penny's protective arm.

"When the kittens reached around three weeks of age, I was able to interact with them. Their growing curiosity led them to me," shared Anne.

The kittens were instantly attracted to their foster mom.

Kaya, who was the most adventurous, led the crew, with the rest following closely.

Though Penny was apprehensive, she carefully monitored her kittens' interaction with Anne. The faintest sound from a kitten would alert her protective instincts.

"These girls are delightfully outgoing and incredibly intrigued by me," Anne said.

"Kiki and Kaya are full of vigor, ready to discover the world. Their sister Kamille is a bit more hesitant, but soon joins in the fun once she sees her siblings enjoying.

Koa, on the other hand, is the epitome of a mama's boy, never straying far from her."

The kittens love to cuddle in Anne's lap, basking in the extra attention and affection.

Despite not being socialized at a young age, Penny understands her kittens are in good care.

"Whether she becomes more sociable or not, we will find a suitable home for her," Anne asserted.

Penny will be spayed and given all the necessary medical treatment.

If indoor life isn't her preference, she will enjoy a content life as a barn cat, cared for by those who truly value her.

The kittens are growing day by day, honing their inherent feline skills.

Penny has taught them to maintain their hygiene and to climb their birthplace, the cat tree.

Penny relishes her time on her favorite piece of cat furniture, surrounded by her adorable little ones.

And despite not being socialized at a young age, Penny understands her kittens were in good hands.

When the kittens were big enough, Anne put them up for adoption.

Kaya and Kamille were soon adopted into the same loving family.

And not long after, Kiki and Koa found their loving humans - also together!

"You know that feeling when everything just falls perfectly into place? That's exactly what I felt when I saw Kiki and Koa meet their new parents for the first time. It was a match made in heaven," shared Annie.

However, there was also a silver lining for Mama Penny, who had been neutered in the meantime.

The compassionate family that had previously cared for her stepped forward to reclaim her.

Since Penny was a feral cat, it quickly became apparent that she wasn't cut out for indoor living.

So, her new family provided her with a lavish garden shed so that she can continue to be an outdoor kitty.

She received a brand-new, snug cat bed, a plethora of catnip toys, and an added protective wall to ensure her safety.

Most importantly, she gained a devoted group of people who cherished her deeply.
