From Tragedy to Triumph, the Emotional Rescue of Momo and Cleo

Our story begins with Momo, who was just around one year old when she was discovered roaming the streets, extremely thin and scared.
There was a gift ribbon tied around her neck, so her rescuers believed she had been an unwanted gift.
Meanwhile, Annie was mourning the loss of her kitty who had recently died in a car accident. Seeking comfort, she decided to adopt a new kitty to help her cope with the loss.
In an unexpected twist of fate, Momo became a gift to Annie, helping to fill the void left by her first cat.
Recalling their first meeting, Annie said:
“When we first met her, Momo was battling cat flu but seemed curious and very interested in us. We instantly fell in love with her and took her home. We soon realized that she would be an indoor cat.”
During the first few weeks, Momo experienced asthma attacks and showed a tendency to eat inedible objects like plastic and ribbons, indicating a condition known as Pica Syndrome.
Realizing they couldn’t let her roam outside or leave her alone for too long, Annie and her partner decided to get her a sister.
That's when Cleo came into their lives. The same people that had rescued Momo found her in a parking lot when she was only 10 weeks old.
Tragically, her hind legs had been crushed, likely from a car accident, and she had to wear an external fixture for about two months until her bones healed.
When Annie heard Cleo’s story, she felt she would make the perfect companion for Momo and welcome her into the family.
It almost seems like destiny brought them together. Cleo had been hit by a car, just like Annie’s first cat, and she was also a tuxedo kitty, just like Momo.
Describing Cleo, Annie said she was resilient, affectionate, and clingy:
“The vets did an amazing job! Her hip is a little underdeveloped, and she can’t sit properly, but other than that, she’s healthy and good-spirited. She constantly asks for cuddles, meowing until you drop everything to give her attention."
"Sometimes I even feel her curling up on top of my head at night to sleep on the upper part of my pillow, right next to me,” she added.
Now, one might wonder, do these two cats get along?
Annie soon discovered that Momo and Cleo are polar opposites in nature and their personalities.
“Momo is very particular about what she likes and dislikes," she explains.
"Everything has to happen on her terms. She’s usually quiet and distant, except when she wants to play or cuddle.”
Cleo, on the other hand, is still a kitten at heart:
“She gets excited quickly and jumps around most of the time. She always wants to play, she always wants to cuddle.”
Sometimes, Momo finds Cleo’s exuberant and loud personality overwhelming, but despite their differences, they enjoy each other’s company.
They often play and chase each other around the house, and they occasionally groom each other, which is always a good sign.
And like most families, they have their moments of conflict and jealousy, especially when they’re vying for attention.
Despite their differences, they manage to coexist and find delight in each other’s company.
When asked what she hopes people will take away from her Instagram and website, Annie expressed her desire to inspire people to adopt shelter cats instead of buying purebred ones - and of course enjoy the cute photos and videos of Momo and Cleo!
“I thought it might be useful to show how cute cats can be, regardless of where they’re from."
"Maybe it would get a couple of people to go to shelters before deciding to buy a cat. If I can get a single person to adopt a cat instead of buying one, I would be happy.”
After a rocky start on the streets, Momo and Cleo finally have a nice life.
Now living in a loving family, they'll never be alone again!
