A tidy home and furry friends don’t always mix.

As much as we love our little bundles of fuzz, they have a habit of adding extra work to our to-do lists, particularly when it comes to cleaning up wayward fur.

Even if you have a feline with a pretty sleek coat, you’re going to have times when they’re shedding more often (usually during the summer, when the weather changes). If like me, you happen to have a particularly fluffy cat, then it can feel like your cleaning chores are never done. On the plus side, there are a lot of tools out there to help you.

Our best pet hair remover is the Chom Chom pet hair remover. It’s the answer to all the extra fuzz that’s cluttering up your home. This reusable pet hair removal device is designed to simplify the process of picking up after your pet.

Dealing with Cat Fur: The Basics

All furry pets typically shed somewhat throughout the year.

Healthy cats and dogs need to shed their fur for various reasons. Just like we lose a bit of hair each year, or pets do the same. However, it can be particularly noticeable in the summer months, when shedding becomes more excessive, as your pets need to get rid of their winter fuzz.

Although cats are often less associated with shedding than dogs, they can actually shed a lot more than their canine counterparts. That’s particularly true for certain breeds.

For instance, I have a red Maine Coon in my house that’s constantly leaving chunks of orange fluff wherever he goes.

The thing about cats is that their dander and fur is often a lot finer and more lightweight than dog hair. That means that your kitty is snuggably soft, but their fur often spends longer in the air, so it’s harder to clean up.

As you might expect, cats with longer hair are more prone to heavy shedding, and their excess fur is a lot more apparent when it’s clogging up your vacuum cleaner. Some of the cat breeds that shed the most include:

  • Norwegian forest cats
  • American bobtail
  • Ragdoll cats
  • Ragamuffin cats
  • Maine coon cats

Alternatively, some of the breeds that shed the least include:

  • Bengal cats
  • Siamese
  • Burmese
  • Cornish or Devon rex
  • Sphynx

What is a Pet Hair Remover?

If you’re one of those pet parents that have a particularly fluffy cat, then a pet hair remover is going to be one of the best tools you can have in your home.

Pet hair removers can come in many shapes and sizes, from specialized vacuum products to lint rollers that serve to make you presentable when you’re heading to work each morning.

Since the pet market is a pretty big place, there are a lot of innovators out there who have experimented with new and improved ways to remove pet hair from your clothes. That’s where the Chom Chom product comes in.

The Best Pet Hair Remover: Chom Chom Pet Hair Remover:

The Chom Chom pet hair remover is a device often described as “life-changing,” and “incredible” by customers far and wide. This reusable cleaning tool removes pet hair from surfaces like carpets and furniture, as well as your clothes. What’s more, it requires a lot less effort than pulling the vacuum cleaner out.

Simple to use, and surprisingly well-priced, the Chom Chom remover is making waves around the world. It doesn’t require batteries, which makes it ideal for on the go, and it’s fine for the environment too, as there’s no excess paper or tape to worry about.

Chom Chom Roller Pet Hair Remover and Reusable Lint Roller - ChomChom Cat and Dog Hair Remover for Furniture, Couch, Carpet, Clothing and Bedding - Portable, Multi-Surface Fur Removal Tool

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Portable and battery-free design
  • Good price point
  • Eco-friendly
  • Reusable and easy to clean
  • Designed with a compartment to capture pet hair
  • No need for refills later on

Cons:

  • Requires manually emptying
  • Doesn’t work perfectly on every surface

At first glance, it doesn’t look like much. The gadget is small, lightweight, and deceptively simple. At first glance, it looks like a cross between a window cleaning squeegee and a lint roller. There’s no obvious branding on the product; all you get is a T-shaped device that’s quick and easy to use.

You hold onto the handle and rub the red fuzzy material over the surface that you want to pull fur from it. It’s difficult to see how something this simple would make a difference to your cleaning chores initially, but as soon as you get started, it all begins to make sense.

To use the Chom Chom, just roll your device back and forth across your furniture or fabric in quick, short strokes. When you’re done, hit the eject button, and you’ll get a neat clump of fur that you can throw in the trash. The biggest down-side of this design is that it doesn’t come with anything to help you clean out the interior.

The fuzzy red material, complete with a few chunky plastic bits that help to pick up fur, acts like a magnet to all the dander, lint, and dust in your home. Combine the efficiency of the tool with the easy-to-empty canister, and it’s value for money, and it’s easy to fall in love with this device.

What’s more, unlike other pet hair removal items, like vacuum cleaners, it’s not going to take up a bunch of storage space either!

Chom Chom Pet Hair Remover Review: Performance

When something looks as simple as the ChomChom roller, it’s easy to assume that it’s not going to be particularly effective. After all, this item doesn’t look much different from a standard lint roller.

However, I was amazed at how well the Chom Chom could successfully snatch the hair from the sofa left by my Maine Coon. I even tried it on the fluffy blanket that my kitty loves to sleep on, and it managed to attract the fur without getting totally tangled.

With very little effort, the Chom Chom quickly and effectively picks up huge amounts of fur. I was blown away by the simplicity of the device, and how effective it could be.

Running the roller over the sofa also delivered similar results. Since my sofa is pretty hard-wearing, it doesn’t allow for a lot of fur to sink into the fabric, but it can still be difficult to pick the extra fluff up with a vacuum cleaner. Fortunately, the Chom Chom picked everything up in a matter of minutes. There was no need to stop after a while to remove a sheet of paper like you would with a lint roller too!

With easy up and down movements, you can pick up hair in no time. However, there are a couple of down-sides to this device. For instance, I loved the fact that there was no need for any batteries or external power sources to use the roller. However, I wasn’t so fond of the fact that the compartment filled up so quickly. I had to make several trips to the trash can, so my kitty didn’t try to play with the clumps of fur.

Another issue is the fact that this device doesn’t work perfectly on all surfaces. You need to pull the fabric pretty taut to get the right results. If you’re running it over a crumpled blanket, on the other hand, you’re going to end up missing a lot of fur. I had a more challenging time removing fur from softer, squishier surfaces than firm ones too. However, it’s worth noting you can still get good results, you just have to work a bit harder.

On the plus side, a great thing about the Chom Chom is how easily you can take it wherever you go. Though this device is a bit chunkier than your standard lint roller, I found it fit quite well into my rather over-sized bags. You could probably stick one in your glove compartment if you need to spruce up before walking into the workplace too.

Chom Chom Pet Hair Remover Review: Pricing

Although there’s more to getting the best products for your furry friends than finding the cheapest items out there, budget is something we all need to consider.

I’ll be honest, when I first saw the price tag of around $25 on this roller, I was a bit shocked. It does seem expensive for what you get, particularly when you consider the price of a standard lint roller. However, when you consider how much you would spend on new lint rollers every month, it’s quickly evident how cost-effective the Chom Chom can actually be.

Remember, you don’t have to replace anything or buy any inserts for this device. It continues working for month after month. All you need to do is clean it out. What’s more, because you’re not buying endless sticky sheets of paper, you’re having a better impact on the environment too.

On closer inspection, the Chom Chom is well worth the price.

Chom Chom Review: Alternatives

Still not sure if this product is right for you? Let’s put it to the test against some of the alternatives you might be able to consider instead.

For instance:

The Basic Lint Roller - Scotch Brite Roller (Laundry Fur Remover pick)

Lint rollers are probably one of the biggest areas of competition for the Chom Chom. A lint roller is definitely more compact, but it’s also more expensive when it comes to buying all of those refills. On the plus side, I do often like to keep a lint roller handy for removing those extra tough bits of fur from clothing.  The Scotch Brite pack of rollers is an ideal pet hair remover for laundry.

However, while lint rollers give you excellent portability and good results on your clothes, they wouldn’t make much sense if you were cleaning your entire sofa.

Scotch-Brite Lint Roller Value Pack, Works Great On Pet Hair, 5 Rollers, 95 Sheets Per Roller, 475 Sheets Total

Pros:

  • Best pet hair remover for laundry
  • Portable and lightweight
  • Easy to use

Cons:

  • Not good for large areas
  • Pretty wasteful

The Pet Grooming Glove (Best Grooming Glove pick)

If you want a quick and easy way to get rid of fur while treating your pet to a wonderful petting session, then the grooming glove is probably a good choice. This textured glove picks fur up straight from your pet, so you can reduce the amount of hair they’re likely to shed on your furniture.

Unfortunately, this is more of a grooming device than a pet hair removal product. You can’t get the same results running your hands across your furniture. On the plus side, you will be able to add something extra to your grooming routine and collect a lot of loose hair from your pet very easily. I found this product great for my Savannah cat, but a little too basic for my Maine Coon.

H HandsOn Pet Grooming Gloves - Patented #1 Ranked, Award Winning Shedding, Bathing, & Hair Remover Gloves - Gentle Brush for Cats, Dogs, and Horses (Black, Medium)

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Combines grooming with pet hair removal
  • One size fits all

Cons:

  • Pretty basic
  • Doesn’t work well on furniture

If you want the more standard pet hair remover brush for clothing or furniture then the Lilly brush is a great choice. Designed for those with long-haired cats and dogs, this item is ideal for removing furniture from a range of products including clothes and carpets.

This unique pet hair remover brush picks up fur much better than a standard dustpan and brush. However, it does struggle with fur that’s embedded into fabrics, as there’s nothing sticky to pull the hair away from the material. You can get a lot of hair with this product, but I found that it required a lot more elbow grease than the Chom Chom, and provided similar results.

Paws Pamper Undercoat Rake for Small to Medium Dogs or Cats - 12 Blade Dematting Comb

Pros:

  • No refills needed
  • Easy to use and clean
  • Works on a range of surfaces

Cons:

  • Not ideal for embedded hair
  • Not for short or wiry hair

Bissel Eraser Upright (Best Pet Hair Remover Vacuum)

If a small hand-held vacuum isn’t enough to deal with all the extra fluff that your pets leave in their wake, it might be worth considering your very own upright cleaner. I’d recommend always having a good pet hair vacuum cleaner around, no matter how many gadgets or lint rollers you own.

This Bissel product builds on all the benefits of the eraser handheld we mentioned above, but it comes with more power and more capacity to take on larger spaces. The hand-held tool is still built-in, but you can also cover large patches of carpet with this device too. Of course, you’re not going to be able to take this product on the move.

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Lithium Ion Cordless Hand Vacuum, Purple

Pros:

  • Great choice for a carpet pet hair remover
  • Ideal for all-of-home cleaning
  • Comes with special pet hair tools

Cons:

  • Quite expensive
  • Not portable
  • Requires a constant source of power.

Dealing with your Pet Hair Problem

Ultimately, as great as your  cat’s fur might look on them – it doesn’t look quite as good on you. When you’re trying to look professional for work, it’s difficult to make the right impression while picking clumps of fluff off your shoulders.

Fortunately, rather than keeping millions of lint rollers around your house, you can eliminate some of the problem in a more eco-friendly and cost-effective way with the Chom Chom. However, to get the most out of your fur removal products, I do have a few tips to share.

Get to Know Your Pet’s Fur

The first thing you need to do when you’re buying a cat hair remover, is get to know your pet’s fur (or hair). Cats that shed the most are generally those that have the most layers of fur.

Cats have single, double, and triple coats of fur, so it’s best to know what you’re dealing with before you get started. If you have a cat with a single coat of fur, you can probably get by with nothing more than a lint roller, because there won’t be a lot of fluff to pick up.

On the other hand, if you have a double-coat or triple-coat cat, then they’re going to shed a lot more often. In this case, you need something that can regularly pick large amounts of fur up from your furniture. In this case, something like the Chom Chom or a pet hair remover vacuum cleaner would be a lot more efficient.

Another thing to keep in mind is how dense your kitty’s fur is. If you have a cat with a lot of dander – the fluffy stuff underneath the hair on the outside of their coat, then you’re going to have a tougher time picking this stuff up. It’s a lot harder to grip than standard pet hair and can easily get stuck in pieces of fabric.

Be Proactive about choosing the best Pet Hair Remover for your needs

If you know that you’ve got a kitty with a lot of fluff, then it’s also worth being proactive about how you care for your cat’s coat. Felines with double and triple coats generally need a lot more grooming than cats with thin hair or single coats.

That means that buying a product like the Chom Chom is a great idea, but you should also be committing to helping your cat with removing excess hair using excess grooming. Having a good brush at hand that allows you to pick up the extra hair that might be bothering your kitty is always useful.

With the right pet hair remover grooming tools, you can stop your cat from getting itchy and uncomfortable skin. Plus, if there’s less hair left on your moggy’s body, there’s less of a chance that it’s going to end up all over your house. Makes sense, right?

If your cat really hates getting brushed – then trying a product like the grooming glove we mentioned above could help them to get used to the experience.

When to Worry about Pet Hair Removal

Another point to keep in mind is that although all cats shed, you should be wary of a kitty that’s shedding way too much.

If you’ve been staying on top of your cat’s grooming schedule, and she’s still losing so much fur that you’re using your Chom Chom product all the time, this could be a sign that something is wrong. Excess shedding can be a sign of various problems, including poor nutrition, allergies, and even hormone or thyroid problems.

I’d recommend keeping a close eye on how much and how frequently your cat sheds. If you start to notice a lot more fur than you would expect, take your kitty to the vet.

Finishing Thoughts on the Chom Chom Pet Hair Remover

So, should you invest in something like the Chom Chom?

Well, it’s a market leading product for pet hair removal for a reason. I found this product to be incredibly easy to use, and very affordable for what you get. You can quickly and easily pick up vast amounts of fur with this device, without having to empty out an entire lint roller.

Although it may be worth keeping a lint roller around the house for dealing with pesky areas of fur, and the extra hair on your clothing, the Chom Chom is a great purchase.

This unique new pet hair remover roller is definitely going to be the superior choice when it comes to cleaning larger areas, like big blankets or pieces of furniture. The low price, effectiveness, and the general simplicity of the product make it one of my favorite items to have for animal care and home care today.
