After losing her family and ending up with people who bullied her, an elderly cat ran away from humans whenever she saw them.

Volunteers tried their best to reassure her and make her feel loved. This is the story of Cinnamon...

abused cat

Abandoned at 17, after losing everything and being abused and mistreated, Cinnamon was rescued by SCARS.

She arrived at her carer's angry, confused and full of hatred. And while it was thought that her days were numbered, she didn't just survive, against all the odds, she thrived.

Cinnamon had lived with the same couple for 17 years and after they both died she was being cared by their relatives.

but sadly her new family did not take care of her at all and even began to abuse her.

Luckily, Cinnamon was rescued by SCARS and given a safe place to stay.

Her carer, Valia Orfanidou, thought she had given her a "home" to spend her final days, and for months she thought this was all she could do.

But as it turned out, Cinnamon wanted more from life, and she got it.

She is too old and fragile to be put for adoption, so Valia decided to look after her for the time she has left.

Valia concludes: "Beside, home is where the heart is, and her heart is finally with us, even if it took her six months to surrender."
