Some people rescue cats, but if you ask Frank and Cole's parents, they'll tell you a different story—one where the cats did the rescuing.

Not in a dramatic, heroic sense, but in the way that truly matters: they brought joy, laughter, and an abundance of chaos into their home.

And when you have an orange cat in the mix, chaos isn't just a possibility; it's a guarantee.

The story began one Christmas season when a self-proclaimed dog person decided to surprise his wife, Brittany, who had always been a cat lover.

He walked into the shelter expecting to find one nice, normal cat and walk out with a simple gift. Instead, he discovered a package deal that would transform their lives in ways he never imagined.

At the shelter, two kitties sat waiting for their forever home—Frank and Cole, a bonded pair who couldn't be separated. The volunteer explained that these two had been through too much together and needed to stay as a team.

Frank was the energetic, curious one, always investigating and exploring. Cole was quieter and more reserved, content to observe the world with a gentle demeanor. But their bond was undeniable, the kind that immediately melts hearts.

The couple took one look at the inseparable duo and couldn't resist. They adopted both cats, and from that moment forward, their lives were never quite the same.

Frank and Cole filled their home with equal parts entertainment and affection, transforming an ordinary house into a kingdom of feline fun.

Frank, being an orange cat, operates on what's affectionately known as the "orange cat brain cell theory"—the idea that all orange cats share exactly one brain cell among them, and Frank only gets his turn on Tuesdays. Maybe.

This explains quite a lot about his behavior. You might find him in the most peculiar places around the house, because if there's such a thing as normal cat behavior, Frank has absolutely no interest in it.

He treats every room like an uncharted territory requiring immediate exploration, and his favorite place to recharge between adventures is tucked under the blankets, warm and cozy.

Frank is also, to put it delicately, a bit bossy. Personal space is a concept he doesn't recognize or respect. There's even a box in the house labeled "Cole's box, no Franks allowed," created out of necessity because Cole occasionally needs solitude.

But even if Frank could read, he wouldn't care. In his mind, the household hierarchy is crystal clear: he's the boss, and everyone else simply resides in his domain.

Despite his demanding nature, Frank is deeply affectionate. When he's not busy creating mayhem, he seeks out cuddles from his brother or his parents, somehow making up for all the trouble with his undeniable charm.

No matter how much chaos he generates, his parents always forgive him—because he's simply too cute to stay mad at. He knows exactly how to wield his adorableness like a superpower.

There is, however, one thing Frank absolutely despises: holiday costumes. He hates them with every fiber of his orange being and has perfected the art of escaping whatever festive outfit his parents attempt to put on him.

Cole, in contrast, is the calmer of the two. But calm doesn't mean boring—he's just as mischievous and curious as his orange brother, simply more subtle about it.

Cole brought his own brand of joy into his parents' lives, preferring heated beds and the residual warmth of empty pizza boxes to high-energy antics.

There's something about that lingering heat that transforms a cardboard box into the ultimate luxury lounging spot.

The dynamic between Frank and Cole becomes especially entertaining when it comes to their dad. Both cats adore sitting in his lap or pressing close to him, following him around the house like devoted shadows.

They sometimes compete for his attention, though both receive equal amounts of love. Their absolute favorite perch? Their parents' shoulders.

Even better is when they get to ride around the house that way, surveying their kingdom from on high like the royalty they believe themselves to be.

Both cats have also mastered the art of technically not being on the kitchen counter. Their logic is impeccable: if you're sitting on or in something that happens to be on the counter, you're not actually on the counter yourself.

It's a loophole they exploit with remarkable consistency. They also insist on supervising everything that happens in their domain and "helping" with work whenever possible.

Life with Frank and Cole is an adventure. Every day brings new corners for Frank to investigate, new warm spots for Cole to claim, and new competitions for their parents' affection.

Their home overflows with fur, laughter, and the special kind of love that only comes from sharing your life with cats who chose you as much as you chose them.

The dog person who walked into that shelter one Christmas never stood a chance against the charm of Frank and Cole.

He thought he was getting a present for his wife, but the bonded pair turned out to be the best gift for both of them—a daily source of entertainment, cuddles, and the constant comedy of watching an orange cat navigate life with limited brain cell access.

For Frank and Cole's parents, life wouldn't be the same any other way. And for Frank and Cole, finding such loving humans was their own small Christmas miracle.
