There is a small cat named Remi who moves through the world differently than most cats do. She wobbles. She rolls.
And somehow, in that unsteady, wholly-her-own way, she has the extraordinary ability to make everyone who meets her feel that everything is going to be alright.

Remi arrived in this world already facing a steep climb. Found alone outside at just a few weeks old — tiny, fragile, and navigating a body that didn't follow the usual rules — she was spotted by a kind stranger and brought to a rescue called Mutt Misfits.
From there, she landed in a foster home. And that is where her story truly began. Her foster mom, Vanessa, saw a single photograph of this little wobbling creature and fell immediately, completely, irreversibly in love. That was it. That was all it took.

Remi was born with Cerebellar Hypoplasia — CH, or as it's affectionately known, wobbly cat syndrome. It's the underdevelopment of the part of the brain that governs balance and coordination. It doesn't cause her pain. It will never get worse. It won't get better, either.
It simply means Remi moves with a swagger that is entirely, unmistakably her own. She was also born with hypoplasia in her legs, twisting them in ways that limit their use.
Specialists considered surgery and concluded it would do more harm than good. Vanessa left that appointment in tears — but also fiercer and more determined than ever.

Life in the foster home was never quiet. Remi gained eight brothers and sisters practically overnight, which is a significant social adjustment for any kitten, let alone one who had never had siblings before.
The dynamic was, to put it gently, a learning experience for everyone involved. But two brothers — Prancer and Smush — figured out how to love her anyway. Prancer, especially, became her shadow.
He groomed her, checked on her, curled up beside her with a quiet, steady devotion. He is, without any doubt, the big brother she deserved.

Remi watched her siblings zoom and leap and tear through the house with tremendous fascination. She had her favorite toys, and her bursts of playful energy made Vanessa's heart melt every time.
But her naps were equally wonderful — luxurious, fully committed, deeply enjoyed. Remi understood the value of rest.

Because she couldn't walk, her mom got her a wheelchair. For a while, Remi rolled and explored and visited her siblings with great enthusiasm. She had a whole little life on wheels.
She eventually outgrew her first chair and never quite warmed up to the new one the same way. Her mom never pushed the issue. If it doesn't bring Remi joy, it doesn't happen. That has always been the rule.

What did bring her joy? Cuddles in her mom's arms. Laser therapy. Daily physical therapy and massage to keep her legs from stiffening.
And Churu — the cat treat that made her so feverishly excited she became something of a piranha, which is why the tube was eventually retired in favor of a bowl, for everyone's safety.

On April 4th, 2024, five months after that first photograph stole Vanessa's heart, Remi was officially adopted. What followed was a commitment to her care that is nothing short of extraordinary: a neurologist trip to Dallas (Oklahoma had none), a rehabilitation specialist, daily exercises learned from YouTube videos and kind strangers on the internet who became real friends.

Then came the seizures. Remi is epileptic, and her first major seizure was terrifying — over a minute long, leaving her confused and exhausted, and leaving her mom's heart in pieces.
There were ER visits, medication adjustments, nights that felt endless and mornings that felt like small miracles when Remi simply woke up, ate breakfast, and began grooming herself as if nothing had happened at all.

There were other challenges along the way: a jaw misalignment causing discomfort, a tooth extraction, a hairline jaw fracture that Vanessa had sensed something was wrong about long before the X-rays confirmed it.
UTIs that were caught quickly because Remi is monitored with the attentiveness usually reserved for royalty. A cold. A rough week stacked on top of another rough week.

And then — something remarkable. The seizures stopped. Not forever. Remi still lives with epilepsy, and always will.
But with the right medication, she went a full year without a major seizure. One year. A milestone her mom hadn't dared to hope for too hard, for fear of hoping wrong.

Today, Remi is two and a half years old. She knocks things over. She eats her crunchies with great enthusiasm. She gets baths every few weeks and genuinely enjoys them, which tells you everything you need to know about her personality.
She has her own fish to stare at, because Vanessa noticed how transfixed she was whenever she was brought near them. She has Prancer, who once attempted to wrestle her, was firmly rejected, and responded by simply lying back down beside her — because that is the kind of brother he is.
She wobbles when she gets excited. And she gets excited often.

Remi lives with femoral and radial hypoplasia, cerebellar hypoplasia, and epilepsy. She has faced more in two and a half years than most cats face in a lifetime.
And still, every single day, she seeks out warmth and affection, plays in her own way, and fills a home with a love so complete that her mom is now building a sanctuary around the lesson Remi taught her.
The ones who are hardest to place, hardest to care for — they are the ones who have the most to give.

Remi isn't broken. She never was. She's just Remi Roo. The little miracle who wobbles her way into your heart and absolutely refuses to leave.
