When 27-year-old Chloe Forsberg of Southampton, England, broke up with her boyfriend, her sister Emily decided there was only one course of action to make her sister feel better, remove him from all the family photos so that they were not a constant reminder of the failed four year relationship.
But not only did Emily remove him from all the pics, she replaced him with pictures of Chloe’s cat Woof.
“My cousin got married and my boyfriend — we were together four years — he was in all the official pictures,” Chloe told Today. “When we broke up six months (after the wedding), my sister thought it’d be fun to replace him with a picture of my cat.
It was a joke, really. I felt a bit bad to have the pictures ruined with photos of him. But my sister made me feel a bit better about it.”
And the best part of this story? No PhotoShop skills were required. Emily did it all using Microsoft Paint!
The photos initially received attention online when Chloe thought it would be fun to “tweet” them to BBC Radio 1 host Greg James. He clearly thought them to be very funny and retweeted them to his 1.6 million followers.
Woof was their beloved family cat and had been with them since Chloe was ten. Sadly, he passed away last year at the age of 16.
And as for the boyfriend? Chloe has revealed that he is now in on the joke. “No hard feelings toward my ex-boyfriend!” she said. “We spoke about it and we had a laugh. Some people thought it was a bit of a cruel thing, but he found it funny!”
