Brant’s son got a call one night from a friend saying that he’d found a teeny kitten, possibly a newborn, in the trash.
It looked as though he’d been abandoned by his mum so they rushed him home as fast as they could.
He was so young, it would be touch and go as to whether he survived the night.
Luckily Brant had some formula in the cupboard from kittens they had before so they started to feed him in the hope that he would take the bottle.
Kittens at this age have no way of regulating the temperature, usually they are getting all their warmth from their mother.
So the family did all they could to keep the teeny kitten warm.
Brant finally got a hold of the vet on the phone and explained the situation, but the vet said that the kitten would probably wouldn’t last the night.
The whole family didn’t want to give up on the kitten so between them they spent the night feeding him and keeping him warm the best they could.
The teeny kitten survived the night so they took him to Saint Bonnie’s Sanctuary and they agreed to do what they could to help this little guy.
He still needed 24-hour care but they were willing to do all they could to help him survive.
Every week Brant and his family received pictures of the kitten and they could see that he was doing really well, then one day they got a phone call and were told that it was time to take the kitten home.
The family were so happy that they called it a miracle, they couldn’t believe that they would finally be bringing their once teeny kitten home.
They named him Oscar, because he was found in the trash and soon discovered he was a lunatic!
He was all over the house in no time, introducing himself to all the other animals in the household who were surprised and cautious.
He really has become part of the family and one of the loveliest things he does is to nurse himself to sleep on his human dad’s hand. Way to go Oscar!
