Abandoned and Broken But Not Forgotten: Poppy the Kitten’s Fight for Survival

When a kind passerby noticed something unusual on the road, she soon realized it was a tiny, distressed kitten, crying out for help.
It was clear that this little soul had been cruelly abandoned, perhaps tossed from a car - but one thing was sure, she was left to face the world alone.
Without hesitation, the good Samaritan gently scooped up the fragile kitten and brought her to To The ResQ, a local animal rescue organization.
The volunteers there named her Poppet, or Poppy for short, and quickly assessed her condition.
The sight was heartbreaking: she was severely malnourished, covered in ticks, and suffering from digestive issues. Most alarmingly, both of her front paws were broken.
Realizing that Poppet needed specialized care, they reached out to the Chris Griffey Memorial Feline Foundation (CGMFF) in Arlington, Virginia, where Ellen, the foundation's president, welcomed Poppy with open arms and a determined spirit.
Ellen immediately set to work, providing Poppy with the care she desperately needed. She carefully removed the old splints, gave her a thorough cleansing to rid her of ticks, and applied fresh splints to support her healing paws.
Ellen's dedication to Poppy's recovery touched the hearts of many, as she shared updates on social media.
Under the loving care of Ellen and her team, Poppy began to flourish. She received nutritious meals to help her gain strength and medication to soothe her stomach.
Despite her injuries, Poppy's spirit remained unbroken. She reveled in the attention and care, adapting well to life with splinted paws.
After more than two weeks of nurturing, Poppy was ready for a milestone in her recovery, it was time to remove her splints.
Ellen joyfully announced, "Look who took her paddles off today! She decided enough is enough and wants them off."
With her paws free, Poppy's true personality blossomed. She transformed into a bundle of energy, leaping and bounding around her surroundings with unbridled enthusiasm.
Her playful antics, from scaling furniture to curiously inspecting plants, showed her zest for life and endearing nature.
Poppy's journey took another heartwarming turn when a loving family expressed interest in adopting her.
From a perilous beginning on a lonely road, she found herself embraced by a forever family, ready to shower her with love and care.
We hope that Poppy's story will inspire others to extend kindness to animals in need, ensuring that more abandoned kittens find the love and care they deserve.
