Cats are capable of sleeping anywhere, in any position.

We have seen them sleeping in wine glasses, shoes, flowerpots, tissue boxes, sinks, on laundry racks and in trees, many different trees.

And just when it seemed like we were experts in the catnapping department, a new style of pictures have emerged of our kitties resting together.

All over social media people are now sharing pictures of their cats forming bizarre, unusual shapes together. In fact, they could all make a good career out of being contortionists.

“If we twisted our bodies like they do, we would feel uncomfortable or even in pain, so we couldn’t sleep in these positions” explains cat behaviorist Celia Haddon.

“Their spine rotates far more than ours does, and they have special cushioned discs between the vertebrae.”

“Also, they also don’t have a collar bone attached to their shoulder blade. Instead, their shoulder blade is attached to the rest of the body with muscles, not bone.”

It is these features that allow our cats to have immense flexibility, and give them the ability to get into positions that us mere humans would find impossible.

With all of that in mind, take a look at some of the cutest cat pictures I’ve seen in a long time, scroll down and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
