David Bowie, the legendary British musician and a figurehead of pop’s avant-garde, died on Sunday after an 18-month battle with cancer. He was 69.

The London-born musician was famed for his innovative and experimental approach to music, and of course his innovative fashion sense. Tributes from the cat community have already started to take form on Instagram.

Here we made a small collection to pay hommage to one most popular musicians of our time.

We start we a great picture that proves that Bowie was a cat person! Taken for the 1982 movie Cat People which Bowie wrote the title track for.

Here’s our favourite Grumpy Cat showing his appreciation of this iconic musician!

What can I say about this picture?  “Ground control to Major Tom(cat)”

Is this “a cat insane”? Bowie’s iconic album Aladdin Sane was a play on words (a lad insane) and was the name of one of his alter egos.

A cat-crazed Bowie fan believes that Aladdin Sane and Hello Kitty make a good emsemble!

The delightful Ms. Audrey thinks that the best way to pay tribute is to put a record on!
