Say hello to Otto!

Since this senior kitty was abandoned by his human, he was confused, hungry and frightened.

He found a safe place to hide on the stairs of an apartment building in the Bronx.

The poor guy had waited all alone for what must of been a very long time, hoping that someone would notice him and give him some food and water.

Then along came Chelsea, she instantly realized this scrawny, scruffy orange tabby cat was all alone and in desperate need of help.

Without hesitation, she knew she couldn't leave him in that condition.

"I saw this old guy curled up and frail... I couldn't leave him there," she shared.

In an instant, Chelsea sprang into action, fetching food and water to provide immediate relief to the hungry and thirsty kitty.

As she cared for the cat, Chelsea discovered something truly special about him.

Despite his rough exterior, he exuded a friendly and sweet demeanor that melted her heart.

This chance encounter had marked the beginning of a beautiful bond between Chelsea and the cat she would later name Otto.

With unwavering dedication, Chelsea took Otto under her wing. She cleaned him up as best she could and gave a hearty meal which he devoured with gusto.

But despite the cozy bed she had prepared, Otto chose to curl up in his litter box, perhaps out of habit from his days of hardship.

Recognizing that Otto needed more extensive care, Chelsea reached out to her local animal rescue organization, Little Wanderers NYC, and offered to foster him.

The rescue group readily accepted, providing Otto with much-needed medical attention, nourishing food, and essential supplies.

In the days that followed, Otto's metamorphosis was truly remarkable. Thanks to the affectionate and attentive care he received, he swiftly recovered his strength.

His previously lackluster eyes now gleamed with vitality, and his energy levels surged.

One of the first steps toward Otto's recovery was a well-deserved manicure, as his claws had grown too long. With his discomfort eased, he could walk freely without any hindrance.

After they removed his clumps of matted fur, he could finally groom himself for the first time since his rescue, restoring his confidence and faith in the people that were helping him.

It was clear that he was on the road to recovery as continued to make steady progress. He used his blankets more, displaying increased confidence in his movements.

Chelsea shared, "He meows for attention and pets, shows his appreciation with hand kisses."

Otto's age was estimated to be over 10 years old, but he defied his age with his remarkable spirit.

Even at the vet's office, he won over the staff with his endless affection, purring during examinations and seeking out human touch.

To add some excitement to Otto's newfound lease on life, Chelsea introduced him to a toy that piqued his curiosity.

He nudged it around with his paw, displaying a playful side that had been dormant for too long.

As Otto continued to thrive, he was treated to an upgrade - a spacious room where he could roam and explore to his heart's content.

After a tour of his new digs, he settled comfortably in his bed, marking a significant milestone.

Chelsea joyfully shared, "He is finally sleeping 100% out of his litter box."

Otto's affectionate nature extended to those around him, and he relished the company of his human companions.

Head snuggles became a daily ritual, and Otto found bliss in being brushed, especially along his back, often drifting off to sleep during these moments.

When the rescue announced that Otto was looking for a forever home, Chelsea realized that her sweet boy had already found one.

“Otto is officially a permanent member of our family”, she shared on Instagram.

“He is doing so great now”, shared Chelsea with We Love Cats and Kittens..

“He has gained weight and is fitting into his new home really well with us.”

Otto came a long way since he was a starving, abandoned kitty on the stairs.

He now has 2 feline sisters and humans who adore him!
