Baby Yankee was found all alone on a construction site, barely alive, curled up in a ball to warm herself up.
Site workers had heard her cries the day before and began searching for her.
When they found her the harsh winter cold had left her defenseless and she was on the verge of freezing to death.
One of the men tried to feed the poor thing, but she was so feeble that she could hardly move, let alone eat.
So he contacted the Puppy Kitty NYCity animal rescue for help.
Meagan got the call and rushed to the scene to pick her up, she knew time was of the essence and she had to act quickly.
Baby Yankee was so cold and weak that she hardly noticed she was being rescued.
Meagan rushed her to the car and placed her on a heating pad. Before long she began to relax as the warmth of the pad surged through her body.
It was still touch and go and at one point she became listless. Meagan was worried that she might not make it.
But this tabby girl was a fighter and despite her fragile state, she managed to hold on.
The veterinary team swiftly gave her fluids to rehydrate her and made sure she stayed warm throughout the process.
Thanks to round-the-clock care, the little tabby's condition started to improve.
After three days she transformed into a playful kitten.
And she was given a clean bill of health. It turned out that there was nothing seriously wrong with her!
All she had needed was some warmth and nourishment.
Now her personality began to shine through and she even started growing some proper catitude!
Meagan couldn't believe the change in her when she arrived to pick her up. She knew that she had rescued her just in time.
Yankee had come a long way in just four days and was so adorable that the rescue got flooded with offers to foster her!
But something even better happened. While she was being nursed back to health, the team managed to find a loving family to adopt her!
"Yankee was on the brink of death when we got to her! Now she is doing amazing and has found her forever home." Meagan shared with We Love Cats and Kittens.
This furry baby may have had a rough start in life, but she was in for a safe and joyful future.
She's a living and purring proof that a little bit of care and kindness can make all the difference!
