Introducing Captain Ledges and First Mate Coal!

Two remarkable adventurers who possess an innate ability to relish the wonders of the great outdoors.

With unparalleled expertise in scaling trees and exploring the depths of the forest, they embody the spirit of their untamed ancestors.

Prowling stealthily atop the glistening snow, they effortlessly channel the skills passed down through generations.

However, their prowess extends beyond land-based endeavors.

When it comes to navigating the Wisconsin River in a canoe, they reign as unrivaled masters.

Yet, their paddling pursuits hold a deeper purpose.

Ledges and Coal are on a noble mission - to contribute towards discovering a cure for pediatric brain cancer.

These two furry navigators recently participated in the esteemed Paddle for a Cure event, specifically the Callie Rohr Memorial Canoe and Kayak Race

This extraordinary competition comprises three distinct races, one of which is the non-competitive Paddle for a Cure.

The ultimate objective of this race is to raise funds for pediatric brain tumor research, a cause close to the hearts of our valiant feline duo.

For Ledges, who serendipitously found her forever home alongside her two kittens, this was not her inaugural Paddle for a Cure race. 

As an experienced canoeist, she joined forces with her First Mate Coal, diligently completing a rigorous training regimen prior to the event.

Over the span of a single month, this inseparable duo embarked on 14 captivating canoe excursions, exploring the serenity of 7 lakes and 2 rivers.

A quest that would propel them to the peak of their physical prowess.

The race commenced in the afternoon, with our brave kitties tirelessly paddling across the headwaters of the Wisconsin River, covering a distance of one and a half miles.

Unfazed by the scorching heat, they remained steadfast in their unwavering commitment to their noble cause, exhibiting an impressive velocity with every stroke.

With pride in their hearts, they posted on social media to proclaim: 

"We fought harder than ever to aid the search for a pediatric brain cancer cure!"

And their unwavering dedication yielded fruitful results. On their triumphant journey home, they joyously shared:

"We successfully achieved our goal of raising $1,000 to support the vital cause of pediatric brain cancer research!"

Since joining Instagram this intrepid duo have amassed a staggering 150,000 followers that love keeping up with their latest outdoor adventures.

Now, as the furry crew serenely floats upon the gentle currents of the river in their canoe, they bask in the well-deserved respite.

With love in their hearts they send an abundance of affectionate kitty kisses to the world, a testament to the indomitable spirit of compassion that thrives within their paws.
