Liliana and Martha were out and about when they came across a heavily taped up box on a hillside.

On closer inspection they heard miaowing and realised that there was a cat inside. They were both horrified that somebody was capable of doing this.

They quickly took the box home and began pulling off the ridiculous amount of tape that had been put all over the cardboard box.

When her little head finally popped out, they couldn't believe the condition she was in.

Her scalp was very dry and her face was all scrunched up –  this poor kitty was in need of some love and attention.

They decided there and then that this kitty would become part of their family.

The first thing they did was to give her a bath, and she really didn't mind, she knew this kind family were trying to help her.

Then it was time to take her to the vet, for the journey she was given her own cuddle bunny.

She was very patient but you could see that she was in a lot of discomfort as well as being very fragile and weak.

There she was given medicated shampoo and antibiotics that started to work right away, she started getting progressively better.

They named her Phoenix and before long she would come running over every time one of them came into the room, she wanted cuddles and love.

She was definitely on the mend.

It was a happy day for all when they heard her purr for the first time and could see that she had a beautiful face, she just needed the right humans to look after her.

She started to get confident, her curiosity and playfulness began to shine through - it was time to introduce her to the other members of this family, Raine and Olive, two completely lovable dogs.
