Winston was found alone on the street looking for help.

Just a few months later he was enjoying indoor VIP life with his own new family!

Flatbush Cats is a organization focused on reducing the outdoor cat population in Brooklyn, New York.

There are over 500,000 cats on the streets of New York City and Flatbush Cats focus on trap, neuter and return training (TNR), mentoring and educating people in this process and of course cat rescue and adoption.

winston on the street

One of the carers at Flatbush came across a very dirty kitty on the street.

Cats are usually very thorough groomers so his dirty fur was a sign of illness or distress.

He also seemed very lethargic, he was out of breath and had scratches all over his face.

He asked around the neighborhood to see if belonged to anyone but was told that he had been spotted outside for several weeks.

He felt he couldn’t leave him there - he was not in a good state.

So he rushed home for some food and a cat carrier and as soon as he gained the cat’s trust, put him in the carrier and took him home.

He was named Winston and it was clear that he’d been indoors before because he made himself at home straight away.

He was given a much needed bath to help with the fleas and after a trip to the vet it was discovered that he had many internal parasites.

He also had ringworm and inflammation of the lungs, probably caused by asthma.

After a few days of rest his appetite increased and his energy levels were great so he was ready to go to a foster home.

It didn’t take long for Winston to find a loving family and forever home.

He had been through so much but thanks to the people at Flatbush cats he would now have a happy life.
