Video of Man Blessing Cats in Russia Goes Viral

A video of a man blessing cats during a religious procession at a monastery in the small Russia town of Kozelsk, has gone viral on Russian social networks. According to a spokesperson at the Optina Pustyn monastery, the man, who goes by the name of Kuzmich, has lived at the complex for more than 10 years.

Every day he performs the ritual of walking with the cats, blessing them and all the buildings at the monastery. According to locals the cats follow him around because he feeds and cares for them.
