Anshu lives in Washington DC and has noticed there's a lot of animals that are abandoned or left on the streets.

She really wanted to help so along with her husband decided to go to a shelter to adopt a cat in need.

They had already had their eyes on a cat but when they arrived they saw Nugget and immediately fell in love with him.

This senior kitty walked up to them asking for hugs and rubbing against their legs. Anshu had intended to adopt a kitten and never expected she would be taking home a senior cat.

Nugget had all of his teeth removed due to an infection but this hadn't affected him, they discovered that he was a super calm cat with lots of love and affection for his new humans.

He follows them around the house and is a major purr machine, Anshu thinks he sounds more like a pigeon than a cat!

He would often hang around their feet while they were working in the kitchen, until one day when he jumped into a cupboard where they keep their potatoes.

Since then it has become his cupboard and potatoes have become his favorite thing. When Anshu and her husband take him out in the carrier they put a few potatoes in to keep him company on the journey and he happily cuddles them.

This delightful senior cat has brought joy into the lives of two people that have never owned a pet before.

Anshu explains that they are now advocates for senior cats and cannot imagine life without him.
