When Kim Silva retired from teaching at the American School for the Deaf, she decided she would her cats sign language. She says “Guess I missed the kiddies so I began teaching the kitties.”

Kim has now taught all her three cats to respond to sign language, which includes her deaf cat Bambi who she adopted through Petfinder. She said that teaching all three at the same time made them learn quicker as the cats soon began to mimic each other.

Kim hopes that this video will inspire other people to adopt deaf cats as well.
